About Us

Dr. Laura Calderón de la Barca is a psychotherapist, linguist, cultural analyst, co-author of 9 books. A tireless explorer of life, she has lived in Belgium, Austria, England, Australia and Canada in addition to her native Mexico, where she currently resides. In addition to therapeutic work with individuals and groups, Laura’s passion is collective healing. In her words:

“My passion for collective trauma integration began with my own experience. Through being a Mexican mestiza, of brown skin and mixed origins, half indigenous, half Spanish, I inherited a sense of defeat that I initially thought was personal, and through a deep and long process of healing, revealed to me its collective nature. I went from not being able to speak in front of 8 people, to being able to speak to thousands of people, and being able to make a profound difference in the lives of others, both in my country and in many others. I currently support individuals, groups and communities to find deep love within themselves, transform and flourish.

I am inspired by the vision that others do not have to go through the same path I took, which was long and arduous, to become who they really are: they can benefit from what I learned, and have a much smoother path and deeply compassionate and warm companionship on this challenging journey of healing wounds we didn’t even know we had.

On my own path I left no stone unturned: My training went from more cognitive approaches such as narrative therapy and systemic family therapy, chaos and complexity theories, through more somatic-integrative work such as trauma therapy, dance and movement therapy, hypnotherapy to spiritual practices based on connecting our heart, body and environment, with the Light that sustains life on our planet. I have brought together the experience and gifts that each of these resources bring, and in the cauldron of my own body, emotions, mind and soul, I have allowed the self-organizing principle of life to weave them into this healing practice that I love, and that adjusts as I attune to the person or group of people I relate to.

My life is an expression of my heart, my joy and my courage. If you want that for yourself, your relationship or a collective you are a part of, welcome to this adventure!”
